ARE FUTURE SOCIETY'S PRODUCTS NATURAL AND/OR ORGANIC?

Not all of the ingredients contained in our perfumes are of natural (or organic) origin. The selection of individual ingredients requires a more nuanced approach because natural doesn’t always mean safe or sustainable. 

Future Society is committed to sustainability, safety, and product quality and selected ingredients based around these three criteria.

DO FUTURE SOCIETY PRODUCTS CONTAIN PHTHALATES?

No. Our products are formulated without phthalates, parabens, polycyclic musks, and sulfates.

ARE FUTURE SOCIETY'S PRODUCTS "CLEAN?"

We do not consider ourselves as a “clean” brand because this term and category is not regulated, which can add fear and confusion rather than resolve them. Instead, we care most about speaking directly and transparently about our ingredient selection process. Our priority when formulating is customer safety and performance satisfaction. 

Our fragrances are made in line with global safety standards set by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA), which are based on scientific reviews by Research Institute for Fragrance Materials (RIFM), the body that assesses thousands of ingredients for skin irritation, hormone disruption, and allergen risks, among other reactions.

These standards ban or tightly restrict materials with known concerns, including some natural ingredients (like certain essential oils) that can trigger reactions, and synthetics (like nitromusks) linked to hormone disruption. We also go a step further, choosing to leave out phthalates, parabens, polycyclic musks, and sulfates. While parabens and sulfates don’t typically show up in fine fragrance, we choose to avoid them across the board, including in our scented body care.

Fragrance is not regulated by a single government agency, and in many cases government standards aren't always the most rigorous. We rely on IFRA, a global, science-based, third-party organization whose guidelines often exceed government regulations. Backed by independent safety reviews from RIFM, IFRA acts as a watchdog for the industry—prioritizing safety over politics.

DOES FUTURE SOCIETY USE ANIMAL TESTING?

We do not test our products on animals.

ARE FUTURE SOCIETY FRAGRANCES SAFE FOR PREGNANCY?

WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF FUTURE SOCIETY FRAGRANCES?

Your product's packaging indicates a Period After Opening (PAO): the symbol of an open jar, followed by a number, such as 24 months. This number indicates the shelf life of the product after opening. Most of our products' PAO is 24 months.

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY CANDLE?

For best results, trim the wick to ¼”, burn for 4 hours, and allow to cool before relighting. Always burn on a heat resistant surface, away from drafts. Do not drop foreign matter into the candle.

WHAT KIND OF WICKS DO YOU USE?

Our candles use a cotton wick for the highest quality experience.

WHAT DO I DO WITH MY EMPTY CANDLE JAR?

We encourage you to either upcycle or recycle your candle jar.

Our candle jars are made from 100% recyclable glass, and the labels are designed to wash away during the recycling process. To remove any remaining wax, you can leave the jar in the freezer ~24 hours until it easily pops out, or place the jar in a bowl of warm water until the wax has melted. Residue should wash away with soap and water.

• Orders placed by 2 PM EST on business days are shipped the same day. Any orders after 2 PM or on weekends/holidays are processed the next business day. You will receive a confirmation with tracking information once your order has shipped.
