Floating Forest feels like the walk you take to clear your head on a cool fall morning. It was inspired by Shorea cuspidata, a gentle giant that rose more than 160 feet into Borneo’s canopy until logging wiped it out after 1998. Using biotechnology, we identified scent molecules from the extinct tree. Perfumer Jérôme Epinette then reinterpreted them as a watery-green composition and rebuilt the whole forest the tree once lived in, not just the tree.
